Well whatever the reason Impontent Robotics manufactured it this way, it looks COOL.
It vaguely reminds me of the Myr creatures from Magic : the gathering, if you know what i'm talking about :) .

According to the pokédex, once upon a time...

Magikarps were HUGE!, although this one look like a 'modern' one, if i use the bubbles as reference...

I really like this kind of "oldschool" sci-fi style. By that i mean it's like what the people early in the XX century thought the future would look like.
(Well i'm not an english PRO, but i hope you got what i was trying to say ;))

I like this kind of 'bigger' pixel art (by that i mean, 'big' drawings, but at a resolution where you can still see a little square and say "that's a pixel!"), and the shading looks fine too. It could have some more stuff going on, but it's still GROOVY.
