Niiiice! The aesthetic is super refreshing, the 'platicine'-like texture, the expressions and the turbulent camera work are superb, good job!

houndkidz responds:

Thanks dude, big fan!

Aahh that's a fun to describe it, glad you made it to the Newgrounds fridge, good job!! ;)

Buster98 responds:

Thanks! Big fan of your work!

Niice, good work getting back to an unfinished animation from 2014! for a project started so long ago it was still pretty consistant. And as you mention, despite showing a much different context, it's somehow accurate for these times.

Pahgawk responds:

Thanks! Luckily younger me didn't animate scenes in order, so I could sandwich old scenes between new ones and hide them a bit. Probably the best way to tell is by looking at the backgrounds for continuity errors (younger me made a two-paned window, which I promptly forgot about, oops....)

Niice, even in this more 'casual' episode there are always fun little details in the way the characters move, most notably stuff like the way Katy sits back on the couch, but even more subtler interactions, the acting is so much fun.

Good stuff! can't wait for the finale!

Aaron-Long responds:

Thanks! This is a very talky episode and I pumped out the animation for this one in about a week but I tried to still include fun bits here and there where I could!

Niice pretty fun take on the theme!

The aesthetic is pretty simple yet still effective, especially for an animation jam, and the music and voice choices were on point. It caught my eye that the girl had defined clothes while the guy didn't, but that's just a curiosity, hahah!

Good job!

Kubbs responds:

Thank you!
There was particular reason. I just felt her character needs to be more 'girly' ;)

Wow, with all of the strangeness of body parts falling, breaking or mutating, that was a nicely executed nightmare.

Good job!

Cheers Butzbo!

Neat musical collab! I liked the character designs, especially the green worm.
I also like how the snail kind of serves a 'timeline' aswell. While screensavers are a pretty rare thing nowadays, this could be a great one!

BenTibbetts responds:

Thanks! Yes, it's odd to think about how long it's been since I last saw a screensaver. Glad you enjoyed this collaboration; I would definitely recommend checking out Maruki's other work if you like this style.

Nice vintage vibe on this one!

A little story issue I had is that at first I couldn't tell that the cake on the calendar meant that it was Fiona's birthday (I only got that later reading your description), maybe something like a little close-up with a picture of Fiona near the cake would've helped to clarify that, since I think it's quite relevant to the story. Another technical bit, but I think many of the smear frames could be even shorter for added impact.

Just had those few comments, but overall nice work experimenting with different aspects of animation on this one!

DelusionalGinger responds:

Thank you!! I'm definitely going to work on my visual storytelling for my next project, and I'm going to be a bit more thoughtful with my smears next time around. This was definitely a plunge into the unknown for me, and I appreciate the critique!

Nice crossover of 2 'vintage inspired' characters!!
The boss battle was fun to follow, with a bit of tweaking it could be a pretty legit fight for the game, I liked the knife attack on phase 1, and phase 2 can get really insane with those platforms!

(Also, good job beating the game!)

Comick responds:

Thanks Butzbo! :D Yeah I was having fun with the attacks I made up for Skitzo haha, my fave is his satanic dance and music notes (that dance took forever to animate!). I totally agree if this were a real level the platforms would have been far more complex and insanely hard. I felt the platform bosses like the Bee and the Dragon were so hard because of that extra element involved. And yes I did beat the game (yay) its very very hard...crazy enough based on the steam stats, only 19% of people who get the game actually beat it! Haha but yeah, glad you enjoyed my animation!

Simple as it is in terms of 'story', the animation and posing of the characters was pretty cool, especially when the girl faints at the end (it made me wish we could have seen the game she was playing, though :o).
Good work and I'll be checking the band!

maruki responds:

Thank you!! Regarding the game she's playing, she'd definitely be playing Aftertile! hahaha

Helloe! I'm a 2D Animator from Chile, and sometimes Game Developer (actually, Newgrounds got me into animation!) I post some personal cartoons and drawings every once in a while! Cheese and lizards are cool too. Bzzzztt!!
