'DINOMELT' - Trailer

Posted by Butzbo - May 24th, 2016

Hello Newgrounds!

At last I have a working trailer for my game-in-progress Dinomeeelt!!!

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/675109

This one got delayed a bit after pretty busy weeks into other proyects/events: I went to the Chilemonos Animation  Festival which was such an amazing event to watch all sorts of animation competitions and even find some pretty amazing proyects which are being produced here at the moment; I had the cool opportunity to make a small part of their commercial spot, it felt like a fun little collab among chilean animators, take a look! :)

BUT with that out of the way I'm back at work hoping to finish the game around the 2nd semester for the web release; Making the trailer took a bit more than expected on the editing side of things, but I really needed to get something else out regarding the game to get a bit more of feedback and also some motivation to keep moving.

GOTTA GET TO WORK

GOOD LUCK! WITH THE GAME It LOOKS AMAZING!

Game looks great, but those animations from that festival are amazing as well. I loved seeing the varying art styles!

Yeah, it's great to find a lot of experimentation in general, some pretty elaborated digital and traditional works; I specially dig the ones made with stopmotion!

I am very excite! ⁽ᴼ ᵛ ᴼ''⁾

Recently been checking out all your stuff, very unique and fun. I can't wait for the game, keep on working hard!

Thanks Phantom; I'll get into it ;)

your have quite the original style. I'd recognize a butzbo from 300 ft distance.

How did you do the text thing where the characters get all tucked in next to Ls and Ts? Is that hard coded?

I'm asuming you mean the dialog box that appears on the trailer?
If that's it, then wow, cool you noticed that!

The short version is that it's actually all dictated by the font I used; It's a font I made out of my own letters using a software called Fontlab; which has the option to include what is called 'Opentype features' in the form of glyphs (/characters) which will appear under certain letter combinations; so if there's a "T" and then an "O"; they both combine into one new and unique character as "To" to improve the spacing and variety of the text. After giving it a try it was cool to find that Construct2 could recognize those properties and it actually adapted them automaticly.
